Search for a free CAPM practice test and you will find hundreds. Almost all of them share the same four weaknesses.

Most of it predates the 2023 outline. CAPM was restructured. Predictive methodology now accounts for only 17 percent of the exam. Agile frameworks account for 20 percent and business analysis frameworks for 27 percent. Practice material written before the change over indexes heavily on predictive content and will leave you unprepared for nearly half the paper.

They skip the calculations. CAPM tests earned value, PERT three point estimating, float, communication channels and Little's Law. These have objectively correct answers and are the most reliably winnable marks on the paper. Free quizzes routinely omit them because they are harder to write.

They are too short to expose pacing problems. 150 questions in 180 minutes gives you 72 seconds per question. Candidates who have only practised in 20 question blocks have never tested whether they can hold that pace for three hours.

They give you a letter, not a reason. On a knowledge level exam like CAPM, understanding why the three wrong options are wrong is often more valuable than confirming the right one, because the distractors are built from genuine but misapplied concepts.

Every question is tagged by domain and by topic. That tagging is what makes the personalised score report possible, and it is the single feature that separates this from every other free CAPM test available online.

CAPM is the exam where domain weighting most often surprises candidates. Business Analysis Frameworks alone carries 27 percent of the paper, more than Predictive Methodologies at 17 percent. A candidate who prepared as though CAPM were a traditional project management exam has under prepared for more than a quarter of the questions.

A domain score shows this immediately. An overall percentage hides it completely.

A practice test used badly produces false confidence, which is worse than no practice test at all. Four rules.

• Take it under real conditions. Block the full 180 minutes. No notes, no phone, no interruptions. The discomfort is the point, because the real exam will be uncomfortable too.
• Do not check answers as you go. This is the main reason the answer key is not published alongside the download. Complete all 150 questions first, then submit.
• Read every explanation when the key arrives, including for questions you got right. Some of your correct answers reflected genuine knowledge and some were a lucky choice between two plausible options. Only the explanation tells you which.
• Retake it after two to three weeks of targeted study. The change in your domain scores between attempt one and attempt two is the clearest readiness signal you will get anywhere.

• Recent graduates and early career professionals entering roles that touch project delivery without a formal project management title.
• Career switchers moving into project management from an adjacent discipline who cannot yet document the experience PMP requires.
• Candidates who have completed their 23 contact hours and want a baseline before booking.
