The ITIL 5 Foundation exam is delivered by PeopleCert through online proctoring or at authorised test centres. The format is 40 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes, with a pass mark of 26 correct (65 percent). There is no negative marking, so attempt every question.

The exam is closed book. Candidates do not need to bring anything beyond identification documents. The 60 minute window is generous for the question count, and most candidates finish in 35 to 45 minutes with time to review.

Weeks 5 and 6: solve at least three full 40 question mock exams under timed conditions. Target 80 percent or higher on two consecutive mocks before booking.

Week 7 to 8 (buffer): book the exam, do one final 40 question mock 48 hours before, rest the night before.
